What we do

Wandle Teaching School Hub will replace Wandle Teaching School Alliance as one of 87 Teaching School Hubs working with schools around the country.

From September 2021 we will provide:

  • An Early Career Framework programme in partnership with UCL
  • The new specialist National Professional Qualifications (NPQ)
  • Updated Appropriate Body services for Early Career Teachers
  • A comprehensive CPD programme

Early Careers Framework

From September 2021, it will become a statutory requirement for all schools to offer, and all early career teachers to undertake, a two-year induction based on the ECF. Wandle Teaching School Hub will provide a funded provider-led service in partnership with UCL. This will include:

  • Two years of, funded training for Early Careers Teachers
  • Freely available high quality development materials based on the early career framework
  • A dedicated mentor training programme

Updated Appropriate Body Services

As a Teaching School Hub, we aim to offer a high-quality Appropriate Body service for Early Career Teachers that links into the Early Career Framework for primary, secondary and special school teachers.

We will work with schools to support teachers at the start of their teaching career. We will provide:

  • Monitoring of support – to check that Early Career Teachers are receiving their statutory entitlements and are being provided with an ECF-based induction.
  • Monitoring of assessment –  as to whether the ECT has satisfactorily met the Teachers’ Standards
  • All statutory assessment will be managed through NQT Manager, an easy to use online service.

We will be holding a series of presentations with our Local Authority and Teaching School partners over the coming weeks and we are looking forward to working and learning with you on this exciting new journey.
