Early Years - Accredited Level 3 Forest School Leader training


The outdoors is the ultimate enabling environment; changes in the weather and the seasons, challenges and risks, open-ended resources for playing and learning. In a world that has changed so dramatically with the Covid-19 pandemic, these elements are even more vital for supporting children's wellbeing and resilience.

This Forest School Leader training is designed for those who would like to set up and run a Forest School programmes.

There are five Units of Study at Level 3: 

  • Supporting Learning, Play and Development in Natural Environments 
  • Deliver Forest School 
  • Observation and Evaluation of Forest School 
  • Sustainable Use and Management of Natural Resources 
  • Teach Outdoor Practical Skills

On this course you will:

  • Attend training days which consist of both theory and practical tasks 
  • Run a Forest School Programme in your chosen setting 
  • Have a work-based assessment 
  • Complete a portfolio for assessment. 

The Level 3 qualification you need to become fully qualified provides you with a broad range of topics that come together to create top quality Forest School Leaders. Becoming qualified means that you have obtained a professional standard. Topics such as health and safety, risk assessment, tools use and campfire cooking sit comfortably alongside holistic learning and development, learning theories, play and woodland species identification to give you as a leader, a broad knowledge base. 

Aimed at: Education Professionals, particularly those working in Early Years and KS1

Dates:  Monday 27th September, Tuesday 28th September, Wednesday 29th September, Thursday 30th September, Friday 1st October, Monday 18th October, Tuesday 19th October, Wednesday 20th October (8 full days in total)
