Thinking about a career in teaching?
Wandle Teaching School Hub works in partnership with two Initial Teacher Training (ITT) providers to offer Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) routes that lead to both Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a recognised professional qualification.
We offer bespoke guidance for our students and support them every step of the way. The University of Roehampton for primary PGCE training, and UCL for a wide range of secondary PGCEs, provide professional support throughout and trainees benefit from expert teaching alongside practical classroom experience.
Our excellent network of local schools will provide placements across South West London, including Wandsworth, Merton, Kingston and Richmond.
For anyone thinking about a career in teaching, the ‘Get into Teaching’ website is a great place to start. The website offers practical advice for graduates, career changers and anyone interested in starting a career in education.
Visitors to the website can find dedicated sections explaining the different pathways into teaching, and find information about training programmes, funding and bursaries, and entry requirements for the ITT.
Applicants are supported throughout the entire journey – from exploring teaching as a career to applying and preparing for interviews. Support includes personalised advice, access to a free teaching career adviser, teacher training events, and guidance on gaining classroom experience before applying.
You can learn more about the teaching profession by visiting the ‘Life as a teacher’ page, and exploring different subjects, specialisms, year groups and career opportunities for teachers.
Wandle Teaching School Hub builds on that support, with a focus on personalised approach.
Whether you are just beginning to explore the classroom or are ready to take the next step in your journey, having the right support can make all the difference.
